Since 1988, the Parish Office for Foreigners‘ Work (“Ausländerpfarramt”) of the Evangelical Church District ‘An Nahe und Glan’ has offered projects for refugees and migrants.
The small team around pastor Siegfried Pick grew to more than 20 co-workers as of 2015. When he retired in 2020, the church district restructured the area of responsibility. On April 1st, 2021, the Intercultural Congregation was founded. Bendix Balke took over the leadership. More about him here.
The Intercultural Congregation took over the coordination of voluntary accompaniment of refugees from the Foreigners‘ Parish Office. Other areas changed to the Deaconry (“Diakonisches Werk), to other agencies or had to be terminated.
Since 10 October 2021, the congregation celebrates its services and offers events in buildings of other congregations.
